The bureaucracy of death – who has already
dealt with it, knows the situation,who has not yet experienced it, feels it.
Hatházi András's text unfolds the problem of passing away and the formalities surrounding
it from the perspective of a family member. Kovács András's father is dying, and
András is unable to free himself from the strains of the thought of losing his father.
Then the father dies; and, when András tries to move on, he becomes entangled in the maze of the
funeral ceremony. Thus, relief never comes. Those involved in the funeral
"business" are immune to the human soul, emotions and pain, and,
after a certain point, are unable to understand. As a result, through the frosted
glass of profit-orientation and document-towers, the other party becomes a kind
of amorphous banknote-carrier.
